What is Jext®?

Jext® is vital for your patients who suffer from the risks of anaphylaxis1
Jext® comes in two different doses1,2
150 micrograms if you weigh between 15-30kg
300 micrograms if you weigh over 30kg
The prompt use of intramuscular adrenaline as first-line management is recommended with the availability of adrenaline auto-injectors to patients in the community.3
Use intramuscular adrenaline in the mid-thigh quickly as first-line management.3
- Prescribe autoinjectors for people at risk to use in the community.
- Use simulation training and visual prompts to improve healthcare professionals’ knowledge of anaphylaxis.
- Seek out and review pharmacokinetic data for each adrenaline autoinjector because products are not interchangeable.
In addition to the early use of adrenaline3
- To ensure adequate venous return, patients experiencing anaphylaxis should lie flat with their legs raised.
- Where respiratory distress is the predominant presentation, patients may prefer to sit up with elevated legs.
- If pregnant, they can be placed on their left side with the bed in a head-down position.
- Where unconscious, patients can be placed in the recovery position.
- Avoid any abrupt change to a more upright posture.
How to use Jext®1

Grasp the Jext® in your dominant hand (the one you use to write with) with your thumb closest to the yellow cap.

You should explain to your patients when and how to use their Jext®. If they begin to experience the symptoms of anaphylaxis it is important that they use it immediately1,2
If symptoms don’t improve or if deterioration occurs, a second Jext® may be used 5-15 minutes after the first injection1,2
For more information, please refer to section 4.2 of the Summary of Product Characteristics for instructions to be conveyed to the patient/carer regarding actions to be taken following each use of Jext®
